GCSE and A Level

I can prepare you for GCSE English Language and Literature, or A Level English Literature, or even the highly regarded AFA in Creative Writing (https://writersexaminationboard.com). I have taught all of these courses and have experience with all of the examination boards. Most importantly, I also work as an examiner, hence providing me with the extremely valuable insight into how to achieve examination success. Whether you need help with the whole course or specifics, I can tailor the lessons to your needs.

I can also work with you on your coursework (although I can’t do it for you). I have supported hundreds of students through A level coursework and I have had particular success helping students improve their essay writing, and as a senior moderator of A level coursework, I have a vast amount of experience in developing a student`s approach to this task. My current A level students benefit from close analysis of their essay style and academic teaching to develop their thinking and planning skills. In my 25 years in teaching, I have 100% pass rate at GCSE and A Level, including students who started with a very low predicted outcome and poor confidence levels. I have seen students flourish in my care and I am particularly skilled at enabling independence and a can-do attitude. Some of my students achieved 100% in their examination papers receiving a letter of commendation from the examination board. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and it has been my life long vocation and pleasure to see students develop enthusiasm for language and literature and going on to become fluent and engaging writers and avid readers. The tuition I offer will ensure that the student is no longer lost and forgotten in a large class and unable to access the examination criteria. I will ensure that the student becomes organised, focused and has a sense of achievement enabling them through focused exercises and support to achieve their potential at GCSE or A level.
